EXCURSION «THE FEAT OF THE LIFE AND WORK OF THE WRITER NIKOLAI OSTROVSKY»
The Museum of Nikolai Ostrovsky invites you to a team tour «The feat of the life and work of the writer N.A. Ostrovsky». Visitors will be able to get acquainted with the life and work of the Soviet writer Nikolai Ostrovsky, who lived a short but bright life, as well as visit his memorial apartment and get acquainted with everyday objects.
Visitors will be able to get acquainted with the life and work of the Soviet writer Nikolai Ostrovsky, who lived a short but bright life. Despite an incurable illness that bedridden the writer at the age of 24, with the support of family and friends, Nikolai wrote a life-affirming novel «How Steel was Tempered». In March 1935, Mikhail Koltsov’s essay «Courage» was published in the newspaper Pravda, from which millions of Soviet readers learned that the hero of the novel, Pavel Korchagin, is not a figment of the author’s imagination, but that the author is the hero of the novel.
Ostrovsky began to be admired. His work has been translated into English, Czech and Japanese. Abroad, the book has been published in 47 countries and has been translated into 56 languages. The novel «How Steel was Tempered» ceased to be just a literary work, becoming a textbook of courage for those who, in the most difficult moments of their lives, sought and could find the necessary support and support in it.
The tour participants will visit the writer’s memorial apartment, where he worked on the last novel in 1935−1936 and met with famous people, among whom were director Vsevolod Meyerhold, actress Zinaida Reich, writers Alexander Fadeev, Nikolai Aseev, Alexander Serafimovich and Mikhail Svetlov.
